As you might remember, this spring we started talking about the fact that the sewage lift at camp went out. Struck by lightning, the pumps were set to cost us around $18,000. After the pumps were struck a second time, further financial implications appeared, including the need to move more quickly with the work, as well as install, in addition to the lightning rod – a lightning arrestor.
When all was said and done, the pumps cost us upwards of $24,000 for all repair work and installations. The community really stepped up to help with these costs, with donations from individuals, as well as from both Heartland Spiritual Alliance and Midwest Men’s Festival. We would like to take a moment to thank you all for that help!
The pumps were completely reinstalled this fall – with a lightning arrestor! This infrastructure will last us for many years to come. A reminder – be kind to our infrastructure and our planet! Only human waste and toilet paper are intended for our new system.
All hail the community!
